The 1959 comedy Operation Petticoat follows the crew of a damaged U.S. Navy submarine during World War II. Led by the pragmatic Captain Sherman and the resourceful but conniving Lt. Nick Holden, the crew faces numerous challenges, including rescuing a group of stranded Army nurses and adapting the submarine for their presence. The resulting antics, including painting the submarine pink and evading enemy attacks, lead to chaos and laughs. The film is a lighthearted mix of wartime adventure and comedy, highlighting the clash of personalities and unexpected teamwork.
