The 1933 film King Kong follows filmmaker Carl Denham, who leads an expedition to Skull Island to shoot a movie. There, the crew encounters Kong, a giant ape who becomes enamored with actress Ann Darrow. Kong is captured and brought to New York City, where he is displayed as a spectacle. Escaping captivity, Kong rampages through the city, climbing the Empire State Building with Ann. In the climactic finale, fighter planes shoot Kong down, and he falls to his death. The film explores themes of beauty, exploitation, and the clash between nature and civilization.
